The Ghiyathi (غِيَاثُ الأُمَمِ فِي التِيَاثِ الظُلَمِ)

In 202627 we will be conducting the Madrasah Immersion course on al-Juwayni’s major work on the theory of imamah (loosely, 'leadership'). Known as 'the Ghiyathi', it is a truly unique text which moves from a discussion of the ideal of political leadership to practical concerns, such as: dealing with disunity, tyranny, and political crisis; how to live according to Islamic ideals in the absence of political leadership and even the complete absence of religious scholarship; and what are the fundamental principles of living an ethical life according to Islam's religio-ethical standards

Stay tuned for updates.

The Imam had been critiqued by some major scholars of hadith, such as ibn Salah. Dr al-Dib, a specialist and editor of the works of Imam al-Juwayni explores these criticisms and argues that they were excessive.
