The Ummah is facing a variety of challenges, among them genocide-apartheid in Palestine; various other unresolved conflicts; poverty, inequality and corrupt governance in many parts of the Global South; while concerns over discrimination, racism, and Islamophobia increase in the Global North. These challenges represent the range of difficulties, paradoxes and complexities facing Muslims globally and, furthermore, point the need for a reorientation. Critical rethinking of future directions, exploring new horizons, and seeking destinies where Muslimness might finally be at home are among the discussions to be had at this social event.

This Iqbal Center PGR Social Event will bring together members of the post-graduate community at the University of Leeds who are engaged in research addressing the multiple ways a reorientation of the Ummah might proceed and are seeking space for conversation and dialogue.
